ULTEC is the first company in the world to commercialize deep UV laser diodes. With strong technical capabilities in device design and evaluation, thin-film growth, and semiconductor processing, ULTEC offers world-class innovation in photonics. Founded in April 2025 as a startup, ULTEC was established through a spin-out from Asahi Kasei Corporation. The company is actively engaged in joint research with Professor Amano’s laboratory at Nagoya University. Professor Hiroshi Amano, a Nobel Laureate in Physics for the invention of the blue LED, also serves as a technical advisor. ULTEC’s novel deep UV laser diodes are expected to unlock new applications across a wide range of fields where such sources have never been available before.
